In a stunning move, Washington has adopted “emergency rules” for suction dredging. The new rules limit the times one can dredge, and in some cases, stop dredging entirely. These new rules are not based on any science, but would appear to be payback for the small mining community stopping the bill to ban dredging earlier this year.
