Couple of things today:
We have submitted certified FOIA's (Freedom Of Information Act) to the BLM on the bulldozed mine in Nevada and now the clock starts ticking for them to provide the entire file of who specifically approved this egregious mistake in dozing an active mine. We are also exploring the possible need for Public Records Requests (PRR) to the state if they have any involvement and/or knowledge.
Also today: We are having a formal conference call with the BLM in Arizona on why they have not approved or rejected a Plan of Operations (PoO) for a small-scale miner after his submission of the PoO 5 years ago. That's right, 5 years ago.
The job of both the BLM and the USFS is to foster and encourage mining and to also evaluate/process PoO's in a timely manner (30 days to respond). 5 years is not a delay, it is a prohibition, is costly for the miner and is yet another example of how these agencies....in some cases and areas...do whatever they can to prohibit small scale mining.
This particular proposed operation is off the grid, is not an environmentally sensitive area, has had the environmental studies performed, is extremely defined and should have been approved in under 60 days like the numerous other PoO's in the close vicinity.
This is one of the reasons why we created the Accountability Act for the USFS and BLM and were taking it to Washington DC last March (2020). People who endlessly obstruct and operate outside the scope and course of their employment in any agency should not be able to continue to obstruct, but should be fired, like they were in the Veterans Administration Accountability Act. If it were not for the virus closures a year ago shutting down our trip to Washington DC to promote this with some United States Senators, we believe it would have passed. Frustrating to say the least...... ... See more
